We are Oslo HUManistkor
Oslo HUManistkor belongs organizationally to the Oslo County Chapter of the Human-Ethical Association. The choir aims to represent the Human-Ethical Association, convey the association's values and outlook on life, and provide the choir members with an inspiring musical environment.

We are a very active mixed choir consisting of about 50 members aged about 20 to 60. We have a good balance between the voice groups, and we work purposefully to raise the musical level. The choir also has very good results in choir competitions in Jersey, Prague, Bergen and Krakow.
The male choir group, HumMennene, achieved 2nd place and a gold medal in its debut in a competition in Prague in 2006.Oslo HUManistKor was founded in 1989 under the name HUM-Koret, and sang publicly for the first time during a civic naming ceremony later that year. Today we sing in humanist naming ceremonies and humanist confirmations about six weekends a year. With the exception of a one-year leave of absence, Per Arne Olsen has been the choir's permanent conductor until June 2026. The choir has appointed a new conductor, Juni Teie, from autumn 2026.
Repertoire
The choir masters many different musical styles. The repertoire ranges widely from Norwegian and international traditional music to international popular music. The only exception is religious music, hence the motto "hymn-free zone".
In addition to performing in the events of the Human-Etisk Forbund, the choir has also staged the singing play "Maribel frå Patria" and larger concerts such as "En hyllest til Mikis Theodorakis" in collaboration with the "Sosialistisk Kor i Oslo" and Norwegian and international soloists. We also create our own concerts with different themes, where in addition to singing we work with direction, perform in 'roles', break up the traditional choir lineup, etc.
We have collaborated with several well-known Norwegian musicians, composers and lyricists, including
- Geirr Lystrup (The musical Maribel and concerts.)
- Lars Klevstrand (choir arrangements, concerts and CD release.)
- Hanne T. Aasheim. Choral work "Byen." i 2011 and "Din stemme er fri" i 2024
We have also collaborated with renowned soloists, Norwegian and international, in various contexts.
